The Hearts Facade Trilogy

By Paul Hobbs

1:Lost

I see you most days, it warms my heart
A wondrous happy time
I watch you throughout the day
Wishing you would look my way and smile
You Brush against me as you walk past
Our hands touching
A forbidden Love
Few know of us, nobody should know
Then that fateful day
That can never be turned back
I did the right thing; I was silent and walked away
I left, leaving my heart with you

I am broken

2:Facade
The smile, the laugh a wave of the hand,
Nothing more than the hearts facade
The smiling face, not showing the pain,
The pain, the pain, Shield me from the pain
Years of hidden pain
Deadening my heart
Building barriers, layer upon layer
Shielding my heart, keep out the pain
More layers upon more layers,
Until the heart appears dead
No hint of external emotion
Cold and insensitive as the stone like layers there to protect it

I am lost

3:Redeemed

You came from another time, another place
Our first meeting, we laughed, something stirred
You cascaded over and through me cutting to my very soul
Like an irresistible unstoppable force of nature
Shattering and rending my barriers
Emotional defences wiped away in a fleeting moment
My heart now defenceless, raw, laid bare before you
Fully exposed and at your mercy
I dare to show emotion and love again
I now choose to live, love and even risk loosing...
Rather than just exist
I rejoice in life

I am found.
